DougLesmerises50x60 JohnClay50x60 Good and Bad Voters of Preseason 2011

Doug Lesmerises is no stranger to either side of the fan voting.  This week he landed on the Good side; however, not by much.  He still received more Bad votes than most other voters, but also received enough Good votes to allow him to squeak by with an edge in Net Good Votes and take the win.  Lesmerises has been notable for the last couple of years for following AP guidelines and ranking teams based on current performance and not preseason speculation, which is especially hard to do in the preseason and for the first few weeks of the season as well.  This week Lesmerises likely scored points with fans of South Carolina, Michigan State, Arizona State and Miami, but gained some Bad votes from fans of Oregon, Arkansas and TCU.

John Clay took his first ever Bad Voter of the Week.  At first glance, you might think it was because he was one of two voters to rank Oklahoma State lowest.  That might have been a factor, but more likely the very-active, West Virginia pollstalkers weren't happy that he ranked Pittsburgh highest and didn't rank West Virginia at all.

TCU loses to Baylor, Oregon loses by a decent margin to a depleted LSU, and Arkansas wins big but was playing a FCS (1-AA) team that had a losing record last year. On the other hand, Miami lost and South Carolina gave up 37 points to East Carolina.

It'll be interesting to see what Lesmerises' next rankings look like.
