AP_logo2 BREAKING NEWS: The AP has made another mistake this week in addition to the Mike DiRocco ballot mixup.  This time there are changes in the Top 25.

As reported by the Washington Post in a release from the AP, one AP Voter's ballot was counted twice by mistake.  This will change top-25 rankings for three teams:

  • Now No. 11, Nebraska, and now No. 10, South Carolina, traded places.
  • Texas now moves up to No. 23 into a tie with TCU.
  • The Poll also takes one first place vote from Oklahoma and gives it to Alabama.  The Sooners now have 31 first place votes and the Crimson Tide 10.
  • There are also a few shifts in the teams ranked below 25.

Update: 8:40pm EST: It seems that this mistake is actually closely related to the first mistake with Mike DiRocco's ballot.  That mistake actually led to the second mistake.  When DiRocco turned in his updated ballot, instead of substituting it for DiRocco's mistaken ballot, the AP inadvertently substituted it for Sal Interdonato's of the Times Herald-Record, Middletown, N.Y.  At this time, none of the major sports news sources (including the AP) have updated their AP Poll.  We are still awaiting official word from the AP.

Update: 9:00pm EST: New AP Poll released with fixes HERE.
